Personal Relaxation Scene

Therapy is going alright. I'm feeling a bit more comfortable talking to someone about my life now, after the third visit. Besides just getting to know me and my past, she is working on giving me ways to control my stress. Deep breathing is one of them. Meditation is another. My current homework is to write a detailed description of a "personal relaxation scene".

I have a few places I'd categorize like this. Anywhere where I can sit, look at, and hear the ocean would definitely be one of them. Another is in the woods near streams or rivers. I really like water apparently.

My dog absolutely LOVES water. He isn't comfortable in deep water but only because he didn't grow up with a body of water to learn in. Whenever we get close to water he needs to wade, to splash, to drink, to frolic. It's so cute and it is one of my favorite things to watch.

The following pics are of one of my perfect, relaxing places - my dog being there just makes it even better :)

On our way there in the car

Walking to our favorite spot

The perfect spot, looking upstream

When the water is low, I tip-toe out on exposed rocks and sit on the big rock. Bliss.

Each time he wants to shake the water off, he has to get as close to me as possible. Share the fun!

Looking downstream through the trees

He picks up his paw and purposely splashes so he can snap at the resulting water droplets

He and I could stay here all day...

(that's his doggie friend that happened to go with us that day)

  1. I'm so glad that therapy is going well, Jill - it sounds like it is something in which you have to actively participate, which sounds like what you wanted (if I have read you correctly). I think that is super-healthy, and am so glad for you!

I love that you facilitated a doggie date during your meditation!

  2. That is great news that you are getting more comfortable and I tell you, that relaxation scene, I could go there myself right now, it looks fabulous!!

  3. Your place is absolutely amazing and your dog looks so so so happy! Times like that are priceless. So glad to read you are well Jill. xoxo

  4. What abeautiful place, and being able to share that moment with your four legged friend is just bliss :)

  5. This is a wonderful spot for you and your dog. It's important skills that you're learning in therapy - relaxation techniques will help you for the rest of your life. Glad to hear therapy is going well.

  6. I love your relaxation place! It's so beautiful! I always feel more relaxed and happy around water as well. I love to swim and our vacation to the Outer Banks this year was wonderful. There's just something about water that is so relaxing .... I wish I could put my finger on what it is.

  7. Just looking at photos of your relaxation scene relaxed me!

Best of luck with therapy - it has really helped me and I hope will become comfortable with your therapist (or find someone you are comfortable with).

  8. What a beautiful place!! That's so good you've got a place to go to. And the pics of your dog made me smile.
I'm glad that you're getting more comfortable with therapy. I know it took me awhile to get there but once I was the best thing I've ever done.

  9. These are beautiful picture - what a tranquil, lush place.

It's good to her that things are going well with therapy. I've been considering some for myself too.

  10. I found you on Stirrup Queens Iron commenter list and I was drawn to you based on your "3 words".

So, hi! I'm Jill too! Great name!

Also, I wanted to say that I had a friend who said if you could afford a counselor, you should have one. I'm envious that you're doing it and getting the help that you need! It's got to be a great feeling.

Lastly, I love watching dogs swim! So cute!

  11. What a cute puppy :) What a great place.
